Well, obviously this is some Harry Potter fanart, and ever since I read that book in particular (can't remember which number, aheh ) I had imagined what the Thestrals might look like in my mind.... and I gotta say, it was quite a challenge to draw these horse-like beasts, I needed a lot of referencing, and did quite a bit of reasearch for the anatomy. I still think they look stubby (as in, short..) but perhaps they're just a shorter variety of thestral, just like all those different kinds of horses one might encounter. ( What an excuse, lol..) Also.. I know they're supposed to be way skinnier.. but I dunno. I tried to maek them skinny, but it didn't work, heh.. Anyway, acrylics are tough, I find, and this pic lacks the usual detail I like to have in my pics.. but all in all, I'm very happy with the way it turned out... even though it took me for-freakin ever. lol.. I hope it's to your liking!
The colors are gorgeous... though to be honest, I thought they were supposed to be a lot more bony and skeletal. Perhaps that's why they're looking stubby to you. *shrugs* At any rate, your art is wonderful, as always, and I'm glad to have seen it before heading off to bed.
OMG I loooove Harry Potter~!! I'm so glad you did a HP fanart!! ^^ Haha that came from book 5 when he could finally see them. That is soooo cool...I've always wanted to see what the Thestrals looked like and you did a good job! Looks really haunting...
squeee!!! ITS TEH POTTER!!!! ^^ and I think its book Four or Five, I get mixed up too dun worry ^^ and they don't look stubby at all...I love the way you made them, for me I always had a hard time imagining what they looked like...so this gives me a glimspe of what they might look like, I love the mists coming off of them, makes them even more eeire
